Investigative Question or Issue: What is the Lost Channel
Creature?
Context for this Challenge: To
set the stage for this activity, the teacher should give the challenge
to the class before reading Chapter #6 of "Dangerous
Falls
Ahead*"
written by Liza Frenette.
Doing so ensures that the listeners have a
context for listening to the story with a purpose in mind.
The Challenge:
Listen closely to the story read to you by your teacher. With a
partner, use the materials provided to construct a creative model of
the Lost Channel Creature that has the features described in the story.
Once you have finished constructing your Creature, you and your partner
should each write a paragraph
description of what the Creature looks like and what it does.
Each of your paragraphs must be written in proper form with an
introduction, a
description about the Creature, and a concluding statement. Be sure
that you use many descriptive words in your paragraphs to help the
reader form a mental picture of the Creature. It is important as well
that your handwriting be neat and legible.
You will have portions of one week of class time to complete this
challenge.
